Former teacher facing new sex abuse charge from the 1970s

Today’s Boston Globe reports on new charges of indecent assault and battery against a former teacher at the Maimonides School in Brookline. The abuse allegedly occurred during the 1970s, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said in a statement. The Globe reports that the grand jury indictment is the fifth charge for Stanley Z. Levitt, 64, of Philadelphia, a former Brighton resident. The victim in this case, and two others who came forward last fall, were 11-year-old students at the school while Levitt was employed there.

Maimonides is a Jewish day school, grades K-12, serving the Greater Boston area.
