Somerville alderman seek change to liquor license postings

The Somerville Board of Aldermen has passed a resolution asking the Licensing Commission to hold a hearing to require that any changes in a business’ liquor license be posted on its window as a public notice.

Alderman Connolly said he had recently been in California and noticed that the license commission there puts a large photo and sign on any business facing a new license or any permit changes or transfers.

“This would be huge opportunity for neighbors to know that something is pending,” he said. “It’s a great opportunity for the city to be more transparent.”
