Pressley Questions Whether Boston Needs More Licenses

Kudos to Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley for raising the issue of whether the city needs more liquor licenses. It’s a conversation worth exploring for sure. Patch.com does a nice job of explaining the issues.

For example, why does Washington DC, with slightly fewer residents than Boston, have over 10 percent more active on-premises liquor licenses than we do? According to Dante Ramos, writing in the Boston Globe in late May, Boston ranks 119th among the state’s cities and towns in the number of liquor licenses per resident.
