Additional Boy Scouts Sex Abuse Allegations

F&F founder, Matthew Fogelman, who has also represented boys and men who were abused in the Boy Scouts, agrees  that the pattern of alleged abuse at the Boy Scouts follows a familiar script as the clergy abuse. At both institutions, we have seen sexual abuse of innocent children by trusted authority figures, and then the secrecy of the abuse and of the perpetrator, cover-ups by the organizations, supervisors ignoring warning signs.

The boys were molested as youths by scoutmasters or other volunteers, including Catholic priests who attended Boy Scout meetings.

Boy Scouts of America has faced increasing abuse claims in recent years, and lawsuits in New York and New Jersey have revealed that the organization kept secret files on adult volunteers who posed a risk to children. The Scout’s files are similar to the Church’s secret files, where names of perpetrators or sexual abusers are kept hidden. The institutions try to keep the abuse confidential and protect itself.
