A doctor from Barrington, Rhode Island, is facing the suspension of his medical license after an incident involving a collision with a Massachusetts liquor store. According to local law enforcement, Joseph F. Grillo, 52 years old, allegedly drove his SUV into a liquor store in Seekonk, Massachusetts, during the early hours of February 16, seemingly in an attempt to gain access to the store. Surveillance footage captured a man believed to be Dr. Grillo reaching through the shattered store doors in an apparent effort to grab bottles from the counter.
Dr. Grillo was already under probation by the state medical licensing board due to reported disruptive behavior while undergoing substance abuse treatment, which was being overseen by the board.
Regarding the incident, Dr. Grillo explained to local media that he was attempting to maneuver his vehicle in the parking lot adjacent to the liquor store when his foot accidentally slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal, resulting in contact with and damage to the store’s front glass.
