Lowell Convict Charged With Child Rape

A registered sex offender from Lowell is facing charges for allegedly raping a girl over several years, starting when she was 6.

Philip St. Hilaire was held on $100,000 bail after pleading not guilty to statutory rape of a child and indecent assault and battery of a child.

Prosecutors say the girl, now 13, disclosed the alleged abuse to a counselor this month.

The Lowell Sun reports that the 32-year-old St. Hilaire’s lawyer argued for lower bail, saying the girl is upset over recent family issues, while his client is not a flight risk and the sole means of support for his children.

St. Hilaire is a Level 2 sex offender for a conviction when he was a juvenile.
