A Massachusetts man, incarcerated on similar charges, is accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile female in residences in Waterford, CT and in Massachusetts.
As reported by “The Day” newspaper in Connecticut, Adam Nielsen, 38, of Auburn, Mass., who currently is incarcerated at the Franklin County Correctional Facility in Greenfield, Mass., was charged Wednesday by Connecticut State Police with risk of injury to a child and first-degree sexual assault. His bond has been set at $150,000.
During the course of a sexual assault investigation conducted by police in Webster, Mass., the victim, who is now 17 years old, attended a forensic interview during which she disclosed incidents of sexual abuse allegedly perpetrated by Nielsen in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Police in Webster informed Waterford police and it was decided that the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad would conduct the multijurisdiction investigation to minimize “secondary trauma” to the victim, according to an arrest warrant affidavit written by Connecticut State Police Detective Humberto Morales Jr.
When interviewed by police at the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts in March 2015, the victim said the “molestation” by Nielsen started when she was about 8 or 9 years old. The most recent incidents, she said during the interview, occurred at a house in Quaker Hill, where she lived with Nielsen and her mother, who was dating him at the time, and the victim’s younger brother.
She also said Nielsen exposed himself to her and acted inappropriately on numerous occasions and at least once forced her to undress in front of him.
She said she told her mother after the first incident but her mom became angry and “tried to make excuses as to why the victim would be ‘telling stories’ about the accused,” according to the arrest warrant. The victim has lived with her aunt since about the age of 11 due to her “deteriorating” relationship with her mother, the warrant says.
When interviewed by Detective Morales on March 23, 2015, the victim’s mother said she and Nielsen dated and moved in together after having a son. From about 2006 until January 2007, they lived together in a house in Quaker Hill, and then moved to a house in Mystic, where they lived until about July 2007, at which point they moved to Massachusetts. She told Morales that she found it “disturbing” that while living with Nielsen he would walk around naked even when the children were home. In February 2011, a friend of Nielsen’s told her that Nielsen told him while drunk that he wanted to have sex with her daughter. After that, she, her son and daughter moved to a home in Auburn, Mass. She said she asked her daughter if Nielsen had done anything inappropriate to her and she told her no.
Nielsen has been arrested on similar charges in separate cases. He was charged on Feb. 27, 2015, by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in Massachusetts with statutory rape of a child. On March 5, 2015, he was charged with rape of a child by police in Auburn, Mass. That same day, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office charged him with rape of a child with force and statutory rape of a child.
