Cape Cod Man Sentenced for Child Porn

An East Sandwich man has been sentenced to seven years in prison and eight years of supervised release for seven counts of possession and distribution of child pornography.

Bryce Garner, 23, was sentenced in a U.S. District Court last week after pleading guilty in April. He faced a maximum of 20 years. He will have to register as a sex offender when he is released.

Garner was arrested last June after FBI agents observed him distributing files containing child pornography over the internet. According to the FBI, Garner was found to have over 2,300 images and 1,100 videos “depicting the sexual abuse of children” as well as a “substantial collection of child erotica.” He was a “prolific trader” online, the FBI said. There was a 14 year old boy not related to Garner in his home at the time of his arrest, Cape News reported.

Garner worked at a hotel at the time of his arrest, but had previously worked as a substitute teacher, camp counselor with the Boy Scouts of America, and an overnight baby-sitter.
